What is Adopt-A-Family?
Futures for Families Adopt-A-Family, is a way to raise funds for construction materials to projects either in progress, or being case managed, by the two camps (Mission on the Bay & Camp Victor Ministries) construction departments.
Who does Futures for Families help?
There are two types of family we serve, The first families we have already begun the repair process on their homes with their own funding and find they do not have enough funding to complete the project. The second are families we have case managed but have no funds for the materials for their project. We will no begin construction on these projects until the funding is secured to purchase the materials
How can my organization raise the funds for the families in need?
- You can take up a special offering or collection
- You can do fundraiser activities such as bake sales, yard sales, auctions, ect
- You can email friends and family to gain support for the family you are helping
- Be creative, have fun and remember to highlight the family you are fundraising for
How much do we have to fundraiser to participate?
Any amount you are capable of fundraising! We have families who need anywhere from $900 to $80,000 worth of materials. When you sign up please provide an estimate of the amount of money you anticipate being able to fundraise. Should you adopt a family who needs more funds than you can provide, you can always join with an other organization in the fundraising efforts.
What if we raise too little or too much for the specific family that we adopt?
If you don't raise the minimum needed to start repairs you can do one of two things: The funds can go into client account and when we acquire funds from another source we will fill in the gap and begin construction OR we can assign your donations to a family whose needs are not as substantial and get started on, or finish, that project. If you raise more than is needed for you adopted families repairs, all the excess funds will go into the clients account. Upon completion of the project left over funds will be rolled over in a different Adopt-A-Family client to start or finish repairs for another family.
Will I get updates on the family we assist?
Absolutely! You can get updates on the progress of you family as well as any other families that your funds assist if you 'over' fundraise.
If I''am coming down to volunteer will I be able to work on our Adopt-A-Family house?
Not in all cases. However, if your group sends the funds in advance of your arrival and construction is in progress during your visit it is highly possible you can work on your Adopt-A-Family's home. Be sure to give the volunteer and construction offices advance notice of your arrival and connection with your Adopt-A-Family case.
How do I sign up?

Frequently Asked Questions

Regular Donations
Why do you need my help?
Futures for Families needs your help to provide reconstruction and support to hundreds of families every year affected from Katrina. We provide a counseling department which assists the local population as well as the construction side which provides a system thought donations and government grants a process of rebuilding their homes.
Why do you want a regular gift?
Thank you for considering making a regular donation to Futures for Families.
A regular gift allows us to plan for the future as we know that we will have a steady income stream that we can rely upon. This allows the company to expand and assist a larger band of the population, which so desperately need assistance.
How much should I give?
Any amount you are able to give helps our work enormously – even the smallest amount. A gift of just $3 a month – that’s only 10 cents a day – could make such a vital difference to the hundreds of families, Futures for Families supports each day. The more that you can give, the more lives we can transform but it is not so much the amount of the gift that is important to us, but the regularity.
With your help we can give hope to the families and continue to make the camps the special place that it is.
